4000 Series Subwoofers

I purchased the PB16 Ultra 4 weeks ago and love it but was missing the hard hitting feel it in your chest bass. I went ahead and added this one to it after watching a lot of reviews, it’s the perfect combination for my setup with the PB16. Now just waiting on the neighbors to call the cops lol

Usually I wait a period before writing a review but after my arriving yesterday I hooked up this sub and was instantly please with it. I also have a Klipsch R-125SW and with the knobs on the back it took about a week or so to get it dialed in and blending well with my RP-600M's. I left the R-125SW right where it was and placed my SB-4000 towards the rear of my listening area, behind the couch a little bit and wow. I feared that with a smaller listening environment that it would be too much but I am one that always favors headroom. I loaded up a play list of some of my favorite tracks and after playing with the app for maybe 20 minutes I believe that I got it right where I want it to be. Its awesome to be able to sit in my listening position while getting everything dialed in. No guess work involved. I started with the phase and slowly slid it up and heard the bass come up and when it started to drop off I backed it off a little. Didn't like what negative polarity did to the sound so set it back to positive. Next was the room gain, I moved around the living room while cycling through the settings and found what sounded best. Then I loaded up a spectrum analyzer on my laptop and okay lets do a 2db gain at 20hz and a 1.3db gain at 25hz. WOW. Now its time to crank up the volume! I sat there for a minute and decided to back the volume off by 5db. This thing is a beast. Capable of providing more than twice as much bass than I care for and with out any distortion. I still have the R-125SW connected but I'm not sure if it is necessary but I figure running both will help to fill in dead zones. I did back off the R-125SW some because in the most impactful situations it is quite suspectable to port turbulence. In all I would highly recommend this sub to anyone. Also, with in positioned behind the couch I can feel the impact as well which adds a whole new dimension to movies and such.

I've been a customer of SVS since 2014 (SB1000, PB2000, PB13-Ultra, (2) PB4000s, and PB2000pro). I purchased the (2) PB4000 subwoofers 2.5 years ago to compliment my old PB13-Ultra, time aligned and EQ'd with miniDSP (Just one of these is enough for most people, but I might have a bass addiction). The sound quality, output capability, build quality, and ease of use of these subs are amazing and in a league of their own. I have all (3) subs turned WAY down most of the time, but when I throw parties I can get the walls shaking. I also have the wireless SoundPath Connection things... I think that's what they're called... so I can put the subs anywhere in my living room which is quite convenient. SVS customer service has also been outstanding over the years. One of the PB4000 subs developed a slight vibration in one of the ports around a specific frequency so I called customer service. A replacement was sent immediately at no cost. SVS has a customer for life right here, 10/10 for product and company quality. I just bought my mother-in-law a PB2000pro for her upcoming birthday and I know that it will hold up to the same level of sound fidelity and quality as all of the past products I've experienced.

Go big or go home! Having two is so crucial for even response. These can be very articulate when asked and are fantastic for movies and music! Outstanding subterranean bass that you FEEL, though never assaulting to your ears and isn't boomy. Incredible power and control of the driver, and by extension, the air in the room. Effortless. I could go on... Fantastic work, SVS!

I was very reluctant on upgrading my subs but glad I did. I had (4) Acoustech PL-200’s and had a hard time thinking there was going to be much of a difference going from (4) 12’s to (2) 13.5’s especially for the price difference. I was happy with the PL’s and unfortunately built my home theater around them (2 stacked on each other in each corner of the room) giving me a very limited footprint space for subs. Its hard to describe but now have re watched about 20 of my favorite, bass heavy movies and I’m experiencing so much more air movement, and very clean sounding, harder hitting bass. Everything shook in some scenes with my old subs but now everything shakes/vibrates in most all scenes. Even in quite scenes, there is so much more I feel (more so than hear) that I have never experienced before. But much cleaner vibrates & shakes compared to my old subs. I spent hours trying to eliminate all the rattles in my room but there were several I could never get rid of. I have now discovered that those rattles and other strange distortion/chuffing sounds were from the old subs themselves. These PC4000’s are truly amazing and my only regret is not upgrading sooner. Thanks SVS! I would also like to request my next upgrade from SVS: Dual 13.5”drivers in a single, taller cylinder 😊
